Usually we can use mechanical taps but this particular job says compression taps only. Have 4 # 500 feeder being tapped in a trough right above 2 panels( 1- 100A panel and 1-400a). Any suggestions on a good compression type tap. I know Burndy makes some good ones.

Consider Ilsco, they have been making connectors for a very long time. I have no experience physically making up crimps so take what I say with that in mind.

Burndy or Ilsco usually depends on what's available and what type of crimper you own. For tapping a single 100 amp conductor to the 500's you'll need a "C" style tap.
