I am looking for standards/specifications on DC distribution in residential homes. Does NEC and/or UL contain these requirements? Thanks.

Re: DC Distribution Standard

It would depend on the class rating of these circuits. as with class1, 2 or 3 artical 725 is where it would be found.

But it will depend on the voltage and current of the circuit as to which artical covers it as for it being DC it doesn't matter it has to be installed per the NEC.

Re: DC Distribution Standard

Standards and specifications are not going to be found in the NEC. As Wayne said if it is calss 1, 2, or 3 minimum requirements are found in 725, otherwise all other articles apply.

One word of warning if you are working with low voltage dc say like 12, 24, or 48 the cable sizes listed in 310.16 may not work because they are not based on voltage drop, only current. Low voltage dc cannot tolerate very much voltage drop. Typically a 12 volt system voltage drop is 1/2 volt, 24 @ 1 volt, and 48 @ 2 volts. Same can be said of article 250.122 the cable sizes listed may not be able to induce enough fault current to operate protection devices.
