The original issue that started this long and tedious discussion was whether the last paragraph of post #4 was entirely correct or not. Unless someone comes in before I finish typing, this will be post #181 and no one has refuted the original issue with facts. I agree that as it is written it is distasteful to engineers, but that doesn't make it incorrect. For the purpose it was meant to serve, charlie b's post #4 was a very good explanation that answered the OP's question. It was (and is) a good way to explain power factor to someone that doesn?t have the technical background some of us do.

FWIW, I believe this thread had run its course and nothing further was being accomplished. It needs put down.
