Can anyone tell me the minimum watts per square foot I should calculate for a complete electric baseboard job in a newly consructed residential home, exterior walls will be 2x6, and room heights are at 8'. I read three different things one said 6watts, another 8 and another said 10watts and to go to 12 if the ceilings are high. Appreciate any info

Given standard 8' high ceilings I use about 7 watts/ sq. ft down here in NC . I suspect 10watts/ft.sq. is more than adequate in NJ. Obviously Cu. feet, types of windows, insulation etc all play into the game.

New construction generally needs less watts/ft? than a retro-fit.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I calculated the homes for 10watts originally, but was second guessing myself when I saw the other wattages some people were using
