Can any one please explain why the ct star points are facing towards the protected object ?
If i change the star point opposite to the object to be protected what will happen to the system?(for eg transformer and bus bar protection)

Polarity or rather vector rotation. Your protection won't work. Seen this a number of times even from 'reputable', big name manufacturers - and shut down some 10MVA transformer with differential protection long after the installation was commissioned.

It depends upon the type of protection being used. Can you tell us the numbers associated with the device(s) the CTs are providing current to operate. Example would be 51/50, 87T, 87B...

As mention by other posters the side you create that star point depends on the type of protection. On differential scheme, metering, and transmission line protection its critical.
