Having a discussion with a co-worker of mine.

If you have a large main for a building that feeds multiple tenant spaces via a wireway, then to a meter can, then to the tenants main, does the ground from the main travel through the wire way, through the meter and then to the tenant main? I was under the impression there is only the phase conductors and the neutral coming from the wire way, then each individual tenant main would have their ground which would connected back to the main GEC. Pictures, diagrams or code sections would be helpful, thanks!

If you have a service disconnect before the wireway and meters, then you separate the equipment ground from neutral after the main. As in wireway, meters, and tenant mains with lifted neutral kits.

Can you be more specific? What kind of main are we talking about?
