I'm having a new home built and the electricians ran the main power feed from the meter on the outside of the house through the wall, up, through the attic and down to the breaker panel without any conduit, now I Haber someone telling me that this is not within code and wouldn't pass inspection, and that it has to be ran in conduit? ?

The answer would depend on specifics not given. As to the install "meeting Code", that would be a decision made by your local inspection department.
Based on Forum rules. that is the best answer we can provide.
