Are there any standards which dictate how the Manufactured Homes are wired. I found one yesterday where every outlet in the master bedroom was wired from a single junction box beneath the home. Needless to say, there were many more conductors in the 4x4 box than there should have been.

Mobile homes are built to different standards and NEC articles (545, 550 I think?)

The thing is that due to the walls being so thin, most have special devices (self contained receptacles and switches) and are likely to only accept one cable entering, necessitating spidering out from one j-box. (eta: most can take one in, one out)

How deep was the box, and how many cables were in it? If it was overfilled, an extension ring would fix that. Every conductor counts as 2 for fill for #14, 2.25 for #12, and all grounds count as one conductor. A 2 1/8" box can take 6 #14 cables... add a ring to it if there are more or they are #12, or it's shallower than that.
