Do you recommend the hi-bays be stem mount or chain-hanger/aircraft cable? Seems to me like stem mount would make the fixture more susceptible from damage from a basketball or whatever. But I'm also not in love with the idea of a fixture swinging around shining in people's eyes if it gets hit, especially in the middle of a game. Are these valid pros/cons I should just bring up to the owner and let them decide?

Rigid stem mount means the luminaire has to take more of the blow from impact. Swivel stem mount or chain/cable suspended transfers some of that impact energy to movement of the luminaire and the fact it will swing is sort of a shock absorber effect.

A lot of the LED's out there for this don't have much that will be damaged easily in this application, unlike HID's or fluorescent tubes.

If you have slope to the ceiling swivel stem or chain/cable mount is easier to level the luminaire.
