Hi all,

I'm at an industrial facility and we have some instruments that came with wire from the transmitter to the probe, and I'm wondering what the applicable rules are for field running this cable. Unfortunately, the probes are quite a distance (50-100') from the transmitters, so the runs would certainly be considered field wiring. It's all 24VDC type signals.

There are a few different kinds:

1) PLTC OR AWM 105C 300V OR CMX-OUTDOOR-CMG OR CSA AWM LL31602
2) AWM STYLE 2789 60C 30V
3) SOUTHWIRE 993009 TYPE CM

Basically, I'm wondering if they can be run in an exposed-run manner, in cable tray, or must be it all be in conduit. Note that this is in Canada, and our cable tray is not bonded as we are using all armoured cable. Even though it's Canada, if anyone knows any applicable NEC rules that would be very helpful as well.

Maybe this should be moved to the Canada forum. But my opinion here in the States is that as long as it's CL2 you can run it any way you want except not with line voltage.
