Do emergency lights have to be on own circuit?

Do emergency light fixtures in commercial buildings have to be on a dedicated circuit? The ones I have to install are lights in individual rooms and are not exit sign combos.

They have to be on the same circuit as the lighting in the area so if lights in the area go off, the emg ltg comes on.
