the service area of a garage in a new car dealership is classified as a class1 div 2 does the conduit which is rmc and a solid piece with n0 couplings need a seal off after it leaves the floor area to a box which is mounted 48 in.off the floor which will contain a device such as a receptacle . the pipe will have a seal off at the other end of the run before it enters the service panel is two seal offs required for this application ?

are you saying this piece of conduit starts in an unclassified area, goes through a classified area and then ends up in an unclassified area?

take a close look at 501.15 (B)(2).

I think you will need a boundary seal at both places it transitions from CID2 to unclassified unless you can meet one of the exceptions.

If it is a solid piece it might be OK.

Unless dispensing is included [Section 511.3(B)] Article 511 does not automatically require belowgrade locations to be classified. Other Articles 513 to 516 may require belowgrade to be treated as if classified for boundary purposes, although not necessarily actually classified.

In your case, belowgrade is not classified and sealing requirements are covered by 501.15(B)(2) Exception 1.
