This Exception says that for metal conduit containing no unions, couplings, boxes or fittings, that passes completely through a Div 1 location with no fittings installed within 12" of class boundary, shall not require a conduit seal if the termination points of the unbroken conduit are in an unclassified location.

What is considered the 'termination points of the unbroken conduit'? The first fitting/coupling? or the end of the conduit run?

You need to meet both conditions. The ends of the conduit in a box (terminations) must be unclassified, AND all couplings must be at least 12" away from the classified area.

Pet Peeve: There is plenty of room in the subject line for the Code reference AND a brief description of the issue.
