This is a new book I just got, its by Jane Brox and is on the history of artificial light, from candles to LEDs. Whats interesting is all of the hazards with early candles using whale oil. Even early matches were hazardous to the health of those who made them.

Keep in mind in 2012 the 100 watt incandescent lamp will no longer be available.
In the future, an electrician will install a luminaire that will last for his or her career.

I think it is 100w in 2012, 75w in 2013, and 60w/40w in 2014.

Note that this is an international forum, though largely USA, and that the rules no doubt differ in different nations.

I just hope that the new CFL will be made to replace all the diff. shapes (neck) needed to fit in to the fixture; or we will have to replace many light fixtures, extenders, etc..
