Hi, I'm designing a High rise building in New Haven, CT. With 12 Floors of residential and 2 floors of mechanical... I understand the basics of the NFPA 72 and IRC to have smoke detectors in dwelling areas and notification devices in dwelling areas as well.

What I don't understand is if the public corridors, residential amenity spaces, or office spaces require Visual/Audible notification devices. My gut tells me to add notification devices to these areas where people will be working or walking around in the public areas, but I can't find in either of those codes where it requires those types of spaces to have that coverage.

I'd appreciate any input you can give.
