Never really clear on when "24v power is needed" for fire alarm devices such as modules and relays. Fire alarm systems are fairly simple as far as notification and initiating wiring. Thanks.

Most addressable devices receive their power from the SLC loop. Some manufacturers require that duct smokes or beam smokes require 24VDC power from the panel to operate.

Most addressable relay modules do not require separate 24VDC power, however if you use an isolation relay, PAM or MR-101 you will need 24VDC to operate that relay.

Consult the installation manual for the devices & panel you are installing.
