Fire Alarm Devices and Gas Detection For Natural Gas in a Laboratory

I have a project in a university where the chemistry labs will have some natural gas outlets in them for Bunsen burners. What are the code requirements for this as far as gas leak detection, fire alarm devices and connection, and gas emergency shut off? Any code citations you could share would be great.

From a fire alarm perspective, any such gas detection devices/systems may be connected to the fire alarm control unit but are not required to be, local codes excepted.
