I have to place a 200 pair copper phone line between 2 buildings. I will be running parallel with the main power service for a building. The 200 pair will be a direct buried cable and the power feed is in conduit. What is the NEC code for separation between the two cables? I know BICSI says 24".

Thanks

I think the NEC would be perfectly happy if you ran the cable right alongside the conduit. Might not be ideal for whatever data is on that cable, but that is a design issue.

Here the local utilities say 12", but when you get to the pole it's everyman for themselves most times.

If this is metallic conduit, I wouldn't sweat it at all. If PVC, a foot should be plenty. Twisted-pair is suprisingly immune to interference.
