I know Im kinda asking for a lot here but in somewhat laymans terms (non audio person) can someone explain the differance between some of Sonys televisions what is some of the main differances between :
W series
V series
XBR
Z series
M series

I am looking to install a Home theater set up for a customer but I am lacking a bit in understanding all the technology in LCD's. I would like to be able to explain the differances if the customer asks without sounding long winded. Any help would be appreciated. When I compare the tvs from best buy they all seem to have basically the same info. My customer is looking for a good set up that has a blue ray disk reader and decent surround sound. I am choosing to go with sony because they never seem to get any bad reviews.

Can't really explain all the differences for you, but I would strongly suggest that the CLIENT be taken to a showroom so they can choose the LCD that looks best to them, as everyone has differeing opinions as to what "looks right."

In general, you can't really go too wrong with any of the major name brads of lcd's...Sharp, Sony, Samsung, etc.

Stay away from the off and bargain brands, Vizio, etc. Their warrantys and reliability isn't as good and the savings aren't worth the hassles down the road.

Basically what these electronics companies do is sell their products to EVERYONE!

That is to people of all financial brackets. Poor, middle class, rich.

Then home users, businesses, industry. Add to this hotels with special wiring, cable TV centers where they might have 50 TV's on a wall rack, video security, and on and on...

So what they do is make a model for each specific market. Low, medium, and high price (you get what you pay for = more money equals more whistles and bells).

Or specific connections say for a hotel where they can reprogram TV's in 150 rooms from the office. Or that cable TV center, they can't exactly use a remote control on those 50 TV's on the wall.

Perhaps a casino with horse racing and TV's all over the place. Want to be able to control those TV's via a computer or from an office.

Also marketing and the looks of the thing. People in different areas/markets will prefer different things. What you see at Walmart will be different from what you see at Sears or a store in Beverly Hills.

Then for boats or RV's.
Etc.

Anyway here is a link where you can click on compare for each model and then see the features side by side...
