I used Class II Speaker Cable to feed 12 volt lighting in a residential application. Is that suitable for the application?

Welcome to the forum.:)

Is the power supply for the lighting system a class 2 power supply?

Assuming that the 12 volt lighting system is a listed class 2 system tyhen you are permitted to use a listed class 2 cable to supply this light.

Class II Cable

A class II circuit means it comes from a transformer 100VA or less. The size of the wire has to be sized to carry the load. If it is a 12 volt circuit to a group of lights that are far from each other, a speaker wire may not do. You can use a large wire and it is still considered a Class II circuit as long as it's under the 100VA limit.

A Class 2 circuit is one that is supplied by a Class 2 power supply.

Class 2 Circuit. The portion of the wiring system between the load side of a Class 2 power source and the connected equipment. Due to its power limitations, a Class 2 circuit considers safety from a fire initiation standpoint and provides acceptable protection from electric shock.

Also take a look at Chapter 9 Tables 11(A) and 11(B) for Class 2 and 3 power limitations.
