Fire Alarm ATS Signal Wiring

The spec is calling for signal wiring to be run to the ATS's to interconnect the ATS's with the Fire Alarm system. I know there is control wiring for the ATS's but I believe this is above and beyond that. What is usually installed for this signal wiring, #18's etc?? Thanks
