Good Day all,
I'm having trouble disecting 2008 NEC 725.154

I have installed speaker wire from a crawl space under a single family residence, the wire passes thru the floor and runs vertically up the wall, and into the ceiling in Two locations within the kitchen for future speakers.
The cable is marked "CL2". Is this OK or do I need Riser rated wire.?

Thanks, Michael

I would say no, 725.154 (b) riser: "Cables installed in vertical runs and penetrating more than one floor..."

the ceiling of the first floor is still the first floor, you didn't go to the second floor.

and also see (b)(3) same section assuming this is a one/two family house: "CL2 are permitted in one and two family dwellings"
