24VDC and 120VAC Control Circuit Voltages on the same machine

Is it permissible to have both a 24VDC and a 120VAC control voltage on the same machine? I'm trying to adopt 24VDC control circuits, but many solenoids are either not available or operate poorly at 24VDC. I want to run emergency stop buttons and sensors at 24VDC, but solenoids at 120VAC. NFPA 79 2012 defines solenoids at "control equipment".

as long as the 24VDC circuits are not limited energy what difference does it make?
