Any requirements/suggestions/rule of thumb for the capacity of a fuel tank for a stand-by generator (200kW), serving a out-patient clinic?
Two levels, two ATS, everything backed up by the generator.
Calculated Peak Demand Load ~250A.

700.12 General Requirements.(E) Fuel Cell System. Fuel cell systems used as a source of power for emergency systems shall be of suitable rating and capacity to supply and maintain the total load for not less than 2 hours of full-demand operation.
Installation of a fuel cell system shall meet the requirements of Parts II through VIII of Article 692.
Where a single fuel cell system serves as the normal supply for the building or group of buildings concerned, it shall not serve as the sole source of power for the emergency standby system.

Agreed, fuel cells have nothing to do with it. The minimum run time/ amount of load should be listed in the specks for the job. You give this info to the generator supplier and they come back with # of gal capacity for the tank. Our 40 Kw units are specked with 72 hr run time. Our older units have a 300 gal tank to meet the requirement. Our newer 40 Kw units now have smaller tanks, 216 gal, due to double turbos and other improvements for air quality with the same run time.

take a look at 700.12(B)(2) ".......an on-site fuel supply shall be provided with an on-premise fuel supply sufficient for not less than 2 hours full demand operation of the system......."
