article 590 -4-j states that we are not allowed to attach overhead spans to trees, I can see the reason for permanent installs,but fail to see the logic for tempporary installs?

I suspect one of the reasons is, unlike the exception for holiday lighting, temp power for construction is not limited to 90 days. That and power for construction/remodeling, would probably be more than for holiday lighting. LMHO!

For temporary installs, I suppose you could use a pole that was "guyed" to the tree and would fall over without it.
