Disconnect working space clearance

This is a question for the inspectors out there.
Is the insulated disconnect switch handle counted as part of the disconnected enclosure when referencing 110.26 Spaces about electrical equipment? As is, is it included in your 3', 3.5' or 4' working spaces?

I have a tight location that works if the handle is not included as part of the enclosure but fails due to a chain link fence opposite the switch if the handle is required to be clear.

IMOI the handle would count however you may get an inspector to allow it. This is something you will have to run by your authority having jurisdiction.

I am gonna disagree with the handle counting, but agree it is a AHJ call.

For the handle:

Distances shall be measured from the exposed live parts or from the
enclosure or opening if the live parts are enclosed.

IMO I think I could not include the handle using this.

I agree the enclosure can be used for the required distance measurement.
