Panel feed

An issue came up with the feeder we are using to feed the building addition. When we surveyed the building 3 years ago, there was a spare 400A fuse that I was going to use to feed the addition. Since then (unknown to us), it has been taken to feed a new panel feeding an 18kw heater and a pump. The panel is in a basement lab with a 150A breaker feeding a ‘heater controller.’

As a solution, do you think we could tap the bus to a 400A wall mounted fused switch? Or should we try to refeed the existing panel from somewhere else.

Either solution would be OK. I presume you have already verified that the existing system can handle the new 400 amp load for the building addition.
