    230.40

Attached sketch shows tenants A to tenants D in one floor building. Each tenant is spearsted by minimum 2hrs fire wall.

Tenants A,B have service entrance conductors while tenants C,D have service entrance into utilty room of tenant D.

Sketch shows blown detail of utlity room tenant D. There are two service disconnects fed from tenant D service entrance all grouped in utility room one feeding to tenant C panel and other tenant D panel.

Tenants A,B service is allowable by Nec 2014 Article 230.40 exception number 1 while tenants C,D service is allowable by Nec 2014 Article 230.40 exception number 2.

Can you have combination of Nec 2014 Article 230.40 exception number 1 and exception number 2 or just one exception is allowed in attached sketch?

I do not see where the NEC prohibits the use of exceptions -- you could use either throughout the building -so what would make either used (even in combination) a non compliant install?
CircuitRyder --- Unfortunately not all good ideas are code enforceable.

Post #1 sketch Tenant D utility room blown up, would it still be NEC 2014 compliant if third meter was added feeding Landlord House Panel with main breaker in the utility room?

            230.70(A)(1)

Seems like 2014 230.70(A)(1) would not be met as it shows the service conductors traveling a distance thru the building. Tenant C does not have access to service disconnect? 2014 230.72(C)
Also do you have a load calc for the new and existing panels?
