I have manufacturer datasheet for kitchen equipment which requires Nema 15P receptacle with full load of 10 amps.

However duplex Nema 20R receptacle is provided with 20amp overcurrent with 2#12 and 1#12gnd.

Would I need 15 amp overcurrent protection or 20 amp overcurrent protection would be fine?

Table 210.21(B)(3) seems to state if the receptacle is 20 amp then a 20 amp overcurrent protective device is needed. I don't believe it will be an issue on a 20 amp circuit. We do that all the time with refrigerators that draw 7-8 amps on 20 amp circuits.

Unless the manufacturers instructions say that you need to limit the OCPD to 15 amps a 20 amp circuit is fine. As Dennis stated if you have a 20 duplex it must be on a 20 amp circuit.
