Yes, and as a matter of fact, hospital grade receptacles are not required in many patient care areas

Thanks Roger, I can't seem to find out exactly where they are required. Any help would be much appreciated.

Generally they are required at patient bed locations. Look at 517.18(B), 517.19(B)(2), and 517.19(C)(2). Some cord an plug medical equipment may also be required to be plugged into a hospital grade receptacle per the manufacturer's instructions.
