voltage drop for 20 amp receptacles

I need to install gen purpose 20 amp receptales 115' to 145'. to adjust for voltage drop, I will need to run #8 cu. is it acceptacle to pig tail # 12 at the J box to attach the receptacle?

Yes, as long as your OCPD is not more than 20a.

Do you have a known load that your trying to carry ? That is not a distance that usually requires #8 ,maybe #10 ,a 5 volt drop from panel usually is no problem

We generally run 12 AWG out to 100' radius from the panel and 10 AWG out to a 200' radius. It is really imposable to determine what size is really needed. You would need to know the load and how tolerant the load is to voltage drop.
