Ground rod

For a ground mount solar array, If there is no subpanel on array just a j box do I need a ground rod at array, Subpanel is on house it's a enphase system single phase 3 branch CKT.thanks

Right now in California we are on the equivalent of the 2011 code cycle and no ground rod is required at the array. Next year it will change, again.
