Hey guys,

we are doing this CDG PV project where we have the design to interconnect at the cable bend box inside the metering cabinet and planned to extend the bus for the tap. But the cabinet manufacturer reached back to us saying there is no space to extended the bus inside. Now we are planning to do a double lug on the existing bus and tap the PV system, because there is no other option other than to get a new service. Did any of you guys had a similar experience or can recommend any other solution?

Thanks in advance

Community Distributed Generation can be a very varied sized project. Everything has to do with how many sets of conductors and where you have room and enough bus size to terminate.

What does your permit drawings show?

Personally, I don't have an issue with adding/changing lugs, but you might want to get the AHJ's blessing. They could, for example, want documentation that the lug arrangement is manufacturer approved based on110.3

Thanks Ron, the permit diagram shows it has 6 sets of 4#500 MCM and 1#3/0G and this area is in the electrical room. We do not have space inside the switch gear.
