220.60 Noncoincident Loads.
Where it is unlikely that two or more noncoincident loads will be in use simultaneously, it shall be permissible to use only the largest load(s) that will be used at one time for calculating the total load of a feeder or service.

Substantiation:

The first clause of 220.60 serves as the definition for the term noncoincident. Having the word appear in its own definition is not helpful. It is not defined nor used elsewhere in the Code.

This section is NOT the definition of Noncoincident. It is a statement of a code permission that applies only to such loads. But it reads like it should be a definition. If you take out the reference, you need to change the title so as not to use the word which is no longer even in passing defined. :)
