I reviewed the NEC code section 680 in regards to information about swimming pools. I could not find any code information in regards to whether there were any regulations regarding having a 12 V motor operated off a battery for a mechanism that would sit next to a pool. Are there any current regulations that I would need to review. Is there a specific type of battery that would need to be considered? Is there any type of amperage limitation? Is this information printed anywhere?

I don't know of any reason why that would be an issue however I am interested in how this unit works. Is the battery built in and recharged or do you have to replace the batteries?

Just as an FYI- This was presented to CMP 17 but was for things like a battery operated ADA lift near the pool. Keep any eye out for CMP 17's actions on this subject when the First Revision is released. It was an interesting discussing...about bonding the equipment, if it was considered portable or not....and so on.

Keep an eye open for it...
