Type "DB" conduit

Don, I found Type EB under the title RIGID NONMETALLIC UNDERGROUND CONDUIT, PLASTIC (EAZX) in the UL White book, page 107.

All these letters are making my head spin. According to the NEC handbook, UL (EAZX) is a HDPE conduit covered in article 353 (which I guess was new in the 2005 NEC.)

So I guess it would be a chapter 3 wiring method for underground, even though its not an Article 352 PVC conduit.

Maybe I picked the wrong one, I thought I had PVC.

Charlie,
I found the same thing a few minutes ago. Type EB is a thin wall PVC and is permitted to be used, but it can only be used in outside trench applications where encased in concrete.
Is this the same as type "DB" that the original poster asked about?

Call for the question.

Call for the question.

I don't know Don, DB stands for Direct Burial and we (IPL) uses grade DB by the ton (a little hyperbole) in 20 foot sticks. For what it is worth, this thread is rapidly going over my head.

I'm glad I read to the end! Can we conclude, for the benefit of the original poster, that the "schedule 20" that may have already been installed by his customer is probably "EB-20" and therefore is listed, rated, labeled, (or whatever) for encasement and would not meet the code by virtue of being installed not according to the manufacturer's specs (I doubt the customer encased it!)? And can we also conclude that "DB-60 and DB-120" would comply with the NEC if installed in accordance with manufacturers specs?

These roundhouse discussions are how we all learn so let's stay on it!
