What if there is a 14 bdrm home that will used as a "assited living home",will you have to put in a fire alarm system ? The NFPA (at least on smoke detectors, heat detectors),you can only have 12 of these of one kind grouped together ,but a combanation of both up to 18. There will a total of 19 smoke detector locations because 2 hallway area's

Is this a state licensed facility? Multi-story? Sprinkled? Is the facility staffed 24/7? New or existing? What minimum level of self-mobility is expected from tenants? What does the local fire marshal want?

Look at NFPA 101 chapter 32.2 for small facilities of residential board and care occupancies. A monitored sprinkler system is required and will sound off the fire alarm upon acitivation. Also note that a smoke detector and a smoke alarm are two different devices. You will not require smoke alarms as the nozzles are heat detectors and will activate the alarm upon water flow. However, you will still require smoke alarms for all the bedrooms and outside the bedrooms per NFPA 70.
