Im currently working on a project where i have one 120/208v panel feeding a sub-panel in the same building aswell as six circuits located in a different building approximately 35' away. I can't remember the exact art. # but if i recall correctly this is illegal, right? You can't feed a diferent building or structure once the conductors enter the interior of a building and then back out to the exterior

If the conductors used to feed the exterior building are listed for inside the building, then you can feed it from any power source that you want as long as it can handle the load.

If the first panel is a service, supplying a subpanel, then yes one could also supply the subpanel in a separate building or structure.

You need to check Art 225.30 in regard to the number of circuits and 250.32 reference grounding.

Unless you can meet one of the exceptions in Art 225.30, what you have is a Code violation.

Service conductors cannot pass through one building to feed another. 230.3 Feeders can be ran through a building and supply another building

Question:
Feeder leaves building #1... goes thru #2 and then to #3
would that feeder need disconnect etc at building #2 ??

actually in his answer James generated a new question for me.
225.30 discussed the situation where feeder(s) supply a 2nd building.
as always, the devil is in the details (wording). If the feeder feeds thru
building #2 is it "feeding" thus requiring the steps in 225.30 ?

Gus, if you read 225.31 it states that you need a disconnect for all ungrounded conductors that supply or pass through the building or structure.

Thank you, Chris. That was the wording my eyes skipped over.
It made sense, but JamesofTN is a pretty smart cookie and he's taught me more than one thing about the Code. He did not specifically say no disconnect was needed, but when he mentioned the "pass thru" feeder, I wondered.
