We have a project with battery charging room. Would you please let me know the minimum distance between eye wash/shower and battery charger? Does any code requires that minimum distance? Thanks.

I did a quick search and found this, I hope it helps...
http://www.selectsafetysales.com/c-105-eyewash-stations.aspx

ANSI Z358.1-2004 Standard
• Eyewash stations should be installed at "accessible" locations and reachable within 10 seconds of the hazard.
• Both plumbed and self contained eyewash stations should deliver a 15-minute continuous flow.
• Eyewash stations should be installed where caustic or hazardous substances are present. Check all relevant Material Safety Data Sheets at your facility to determine if the chemical or substance requires 15-minute eye flushing.
• Eyewashes should have an on-off valve, door or pull strap that activates within one second with one single motion or less.
• Eyewash station should be located in an area free of obstructions that inhibit immediate use.

Thanks for the reply. The concern we have is when eye wash/show spray water out and get to battery charger. It may be dangerous for the equipment and people around it. But I cannot find any code requirement about the minimum distance between eye wash/shower and battery charger.

well it sure as heck wouldn't do the person any good to flush their eyes out if they were going to be electrocuted while doing it

The battery charger is actually located on rack up high. But the cord and connnection to battery will be low around 40 inches AFF. The output of battery charger is 24VDC or 36VDC. Is it going to hurt anybody when he touches the DC power source through water in case water spraying out from eye wash?

The reason for the eyewash is that a battery explosion or other accident could result in sulfuric acid in the eyes. You better be able to get to the eyewash immediately and without being able to see well, if at all (remember you have acid in your eyes?). The faster and easier you get to the eyewash, the less likely the acid will do permanent damage. Probably not much likelhood of being electrocuted while using an eyewash, regardless of proximity to chargers.
