Oh - what is the code that keeps TV's out of the bathtub area?

I'm thinking a TV is okay in a bathroom, recessed or on a swivel-arm (happens in nice hotels)... I think the only general restriction is to keep it GFI protected?

Installing a receptacle within the tub and/or shower space specifically would definitely run headlong into 406.8(C) though...

Of note: there are however 2 kinds of TV's: those that are made for an environment like a shower room (fog/moisture resistant screen and internals), and those that are not.
 
The idea is not new at all. You can not put a receptacle in the tub area but one 1 inch outside of tub area is legal. As an electrician about all you can do is warn the HO as to the dangers. They will not listen but you did your part. NEC is not idiot proof.
 
i did one a couple of months ago.

the receptacle was just outside of the tub space, and the LCD flat panel was made for damp areas. it used a wall-wart LV transformer for power.

i've got another one to do in a couple of weeks.
 
Oh - finally found it in 406.8, and to boot CA adds a 5' limit or not accesible from tub/shower areas.

(

C) Bathtub and Shower Space. Receptacles shall not be
installed within or directly over a bathtub or shower stall.
(1) [OSHPD 1, 2 & 4] Receptacles shall not be installed within

shower rooms or stalls or be accessible from within these areas.

Receptacles shall not be installed within 5 feet (1.52 m) of the

perimeter of bathtubs.
