The installation that I'm planning is for a portable generator connection in the event of power failure....
Switch the panel mounted transfer switch, roll the generator up to the exterior flanged receptacle, plug it in, and crank her up.
Load shedding will be done manually by the homeowner.

A typical (excluding the exterior transfer switch) standby installation with manual transfer.

The panel mounted transfer mechanism will make this installation a lot more simple.
Ive heard them discussed (here) before but I wasn't sure if they were available.

I am still wondering if the interlocks are listed/identified as suitable for permanently installed generators????

Take a look at 702.6 and the exception

I don't think these are intended for permanently installed generators. I have used a bunch of these and always for a manual setup with a portable generator which I beleive that is the proper use for them.
