Is it proper to switch the neutral wires along with the ungrounded wires in a disconnect for a 200 amp feeder to a remote building? The old disco burned up one leg and all that seems to be available is a new 3 pole NON fused unit at 200 amps 120/240. It seems weird to disconnect the nuetral.

If the neutral is already broken it'd be cheaper to land it in the lugs and switch it rather than buying a $25 insulated tap. Switched neutrals are pretty unorthodox though, so me personally, I'd still use the ins. tap.

I was asking because the old burned switch had the neutral switched and it seemed odd to me.

From 2008 NEC - 404.2 (B) check the exception. Can't you just run the grounded through without termination at the switch?

You can switch the grounded, check the section I listed. It is unusual, but as long as the grounded and ungrounded disconnect at the same time it is allowed.
