So we're designing a warehouse that has large rooms with 5+ entrance/exits in some.
Rather than use explosion proof switches with standard 277V can we use 24VAC switches which then power a relay (which is located in an unrated location)?
Section 501.25 says the switch has to operate below 30V (the switch in question has two exposed buss bars) and also be protected via 500.7 (E)(F) or (G).
I'm a bit confused on this secondary protection.... is this something the manufacture has to indicate?
Right now I?m thinking a relay box/controller + 40LV switches will be cheaper than 40HV switches with all the C1D2 addons that we'd have to have in there.
