I have a situation that I'm trying to figure out on a piece of equipment that is approximately 25 to 30 years old. It's a grinder inside a protective box. My problem is the 6 flourescent light sticks/drop lights that were used inside the protective box to illuminate the grinder tray and oil pans. These are standard drop lights with a bulb and starter associated with each stick except that all 6 have had the ballast(?) removed and have been wired into a common box. The rectangular box (ballast/transformer) that is normally part of the plug end of the coiled cord is gone.

The question is, has anyone seen anything like this before? Can anyone offer any advice as to what is in the common box, is it a common ballast to run all 6 lights, any advice as to size, voltage, etc? I have to figure out how to dispose of the lights and any ballast associated in accordance with numerous guidelines, so the more I can find out about it, the better off I'll be. I'm not familiar with this type of configuration, so I'm hoping that someone here can offer some advice.

Thanks.
