Hi all, I'm an electrician so I should know this but.....looking for opinions,

This is for my house, I'm installing a split AC system. I have a disconnect I found in my shed I'm thinking of using. Thing is it's rate at 240v. My house power is 120/240. Should the disconnect be rated for lets say 250v?

Thanks,
R

Disconnects are rated for 100% of their voltage rating. Your disconnect should be good at that rating. It'll need to be a 2-pole disconnect with a current rating equal or greater than your load, calculated or otherwise. Also needs to be listed as suitable for use as service equipment (i.e. if you're going to use it as a service disconnect, of course).
