Are the high strength corrosion-resistant bronze alloy split bolt connectors typically found at Grainger, etc. approved for direct burial in earth or concrete for the bonding of #8 solid for a pool equipotential grid? If not, is there a specific split bolt connector that can be used, similar to the J-clamp (DB25)?

Ground clamps and other connectors suitable to use where buried in earth or embedded in concrete are marked for such use. The marking may be abbreviated "DB" (for "Direct Burial") UL White Book.

From the 2008 Edition of the UL Whitebook, Page 180:

GROUNDING AND BONDING EQUIPMENT (KDER)
Ground Clamps ? Strap-type ground clamps are not suitable for attachment of the grounding conductor of an interior wiring system to a grounding electrode.

Ground clamps and other connectors suitable for use where buried in earth or embedded in concrete are marked for such use. The marking may be abbreviated ??DB?? (for ??Direct Burial??).
