We buy 1000' spools that are 'reverse wound' they makes it pull much better through studs or over steel truss.

I sometimes save old reels and have 'chuckle-head' re-roll them with my home-made crank set-up. Sometimes the chuckle-head will vary. Takes a few minutes - depending on which chuckle-head is available.

I could modify my rig for making up control wire bundles. It sure is nice when you have to pull 75 #16's and they are all on one reel.

So, pop these into the holes:

There is not a clean cut hole. The punch basically just rips the stud open.

I've used Greenlee's round punch and it was the bomb, but we were running EMT. The square punch sounds interesting, but do watch those fingers. And we did get one of the chuckle-heads that tried to punch a double stud and messed up the cutters. I do believe the cutters are replaceable.

There was a manufacture that made square MC or maybe it was AC cable years back, I don't know if it's still manufactured, but was supposed to be easier to pull thru studs.

Back in my younger days I took a piece of mc and shaped it into an 'E', then I hammered

it square ( took about two hours ) then hung it on the wall. People would say " what's

that ", I told them, E=MC squared !!

Yeah, I know, thanks for sharing.

You mean to tell me I navigated to the end of this post for that?
