I have a 1.5 hp 3 phase 440/240v motor on an old Bridgeport machine. The motor has the standard 9 wires at the pecker head but it has an extra wire marked with an "R". Any ideas what this wire is for? I know you swap phases to reverse. Nothing on the operator control for reversing. Does this wire need to be connected?

Personally, I'd cap the "R" lead and test fire that thing. What's it gonna hurt?:-?
