To pendant or not to pendant?

We have power drops to several pieces of industrial equipment. By power drop I mean a box with a strain relief in the ceiling, SO cord hanging down, and a 20 or 30A twist lock receptacle at the end. The plug cords coming from the equipment are typically 4-6' long. As far as I can tell, this drop qualifies as a pendant. Questions; 1. Am I correct in saying this is a pendant? 2. Is there a current rating limit to these drops or is it only limited by the available twist-lock equipment?

Section 21.50(A) does permit cord pendants and are to be considered as a receptacle outlet. In section 314.23(H)(1) requires the box to be supported form the flexible cord in an approved manner that protects the conductors against strain.
 
I believe you can correctly call it a cord pendant. The ampacity would be determined by the overcurrent protective device and the cord should be sized per 400.5
