Greetings All,

To review, I am an AV consultant and generate the types of drawings that can get scoffed at in the field (c'mon you know you have ;) ). I have several details showing duplex receptacles some 20 amp some 15 amp some IG. Now some of the show the ground lug over the hot and neutral and some show the other way round. Now I realize that by me getting this right in my drawings will give you guys less laughs (less headaches too?) in the field but I would sure appreciate knowing which way is right. "Upside down" makes sense to me because of metal things (paper clips, metal rulers) falling behind desks and such and hitting the ground won't (in theory) be hot. Which is it? I am in California, figures huh?

The ground up/ground down debate has be exhausted on this site and any questions as to the proper orentation will get this thread closed by a moderator, since it is on the taboo list of questions :D

Aye, so it's a preference/taste issue. Got it thanks. Splains why it did not come up on the searches either :)

I go with ground down since most right angle plugs have the ground on the bottom. (This is a new thread to me. I missed the previous ones it seems.)

Mac, you can click Here for more.

With that said I have to (really, I have to) close this thread.
